PH_ Power House_”Interactive Installation”
For this project I was given a free slate to come up with an idea that would house a
series of events over several months duration for the YK:EMX exhibition at the Nicosia
Municipal Arts Center . My idea was to generate a series of unexpected interactions
among the visitors, which would in turn create a series of new experiences for them
and change or alter their perception of their visit. I proposed a bar, multi-use conference /
seating area for performances and round-table discussions, a DJ box, a moveable eatery / kitchen with sink, fridge, stove and cooking apparatus, as well as additional dispersed seating and raised ramps and walkways acting as circulation/cluster spaces.
I choose to use ‘found’ materials from the area, all located within a 20 meter radius of
the Center. Everything was handcrafted and built on site by myself and 2 assistant
carpenters of the Municipal Arts Center over a period of 5 days. All the materials were
re-used after disassembly of the installation.
