We are Common Ground_ Venice Biennale 2012
The starting point of the approach of our proposal is the movement ‘Occupy’. A group of people claiming public space within the city. The buffer zone in Nicosia is the action area ‘Occupy’.
We examine ‘vague terrains’ starting from the green line, a part of which includes unused but very substantial terrains of Nicosia and the linear flow of neglected spatial entities of the torrent Pediaios.
From the perspective of the movement ‘Occupy’, these unclear / disputed – as unworthy of attention cityscapes city trigger new approaches to the ‘common ground perception’. Consequent and inevitable, this research leads to innovative understand the general framework of common ground giving new perspectives to the city of Nicosia. Particularly in the city and country where historical conditions did not favor (all) the development of public space.
